Ashley Duzich
Ashley grew up on the gulf coast of Texas where she was a swimmer throughout high school. Her journey into health and wellness began when she took her first yoga class at the age of 17. By 2009 she had completed her 200-hr yoga teacher training certification. A year later she started experiencing severe lower back pain. Over the course of a few months it worsened until one day she simply could not get out of bed. After she managed to get herself to the chiropractor they sent her straight to the hospital for an MRI where she learned that she had herniations in her L4 and L5. She was told that she would need to schedule surgery immediately. But luckily for her she had learned a lot during her teacher training and she decided to get a second opinion. After visiting a neurologist he encouraged her to try weight training and re-examining her yoga practice. This changed everything. That is when Ashley’s true passion for health and wellness began. Since then not only has she managed to avoid surgery, she now lives almost entirely free of pain. Yoga, exercise, and proper nutrition have allowed her to live completely free of medication and allowing her to live the fullest life possible.
Since then she has taught yoga classes across the world ranging from private lessons to workshops with 40+ students. She has taught yoga to people of all ages and skill levels including (but not limited to) psychiatric patients at hospitals, professional athletes, plus-size populations, and even to mentally handicapped youths. In 2013 Ashley completed her Bachelor of Science: Kinesiology where she focused on Exercise Science and specialized in lower back injuries and morbidly obese populations.
Ashley is passionate about educating people on what it means to become their best possible self. She believes in having a balance between not only strength and flexibility but body and mind too. Ashley’s classes are dynamic and challenging while weaving inspiration and humor into each class. She believes that this method fosters not only positive individual growth, but also community growth, which creates truly lasting changes.
Ashley is also a Social Activist within the Houston community. She believes that giving back to your community is part of life’s balance:
“When we are fortunate enough to have been given more than we need along with healthy bodies, minds, and spirits, than it’s our societal and spiritual duty to help those who haven’t been.”
